**Job Description:**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Technician to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical fitting team, ensuring high-quality production deliverables, and maintaining a clean and tidy working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Department H&S:** Conduct regular work area checks to promote good housekeeping and ensure a safe working environment.
- **Machine Build Progress:** Oversee the progress of machine builds and ensure they are completed to the highest standards.
- **Production Deliverables:** Ensure that production deliverables are achieved on time and to the required quality standards.
- **Team Leadership:** Lead and motivate the mechanical fitting team to achieve their goals and objectives.
- **Training and Development:** Develop and maintain individual training and skill requirements to ensure the team has the necessary skills to perform their roles effectively.
- **Communication:** Communicate effectively with the production manager, team members, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- **Quality Assurance:** Adhere to the procedures defined by the ISO9001 QA system to ensure high-quality production deliverables.
Requirements:
- **Apprenticeship Trained:** Hold an apprenticeship qualification in a relevant trade, such as mechanical engineering or instrumentation.
- **Trade Qualification:** Hold a trade qualification, such as City & Guilds or ONC, in a relevant trade.
- **Mechanical Instrument/Special Machine Building and Fitting:** Have experience in mechanical instrument/special machine building and fitting.
- **Understanding of Technical Drawings:** Have a good understanding of technical drawings and be able to interpret and follow SOPs.
- **Bench Craft Skills:** Possess bench craft skills, including marking, drilling, cutting, threading, and forming, and be proficient in the use of various hand tools.
- **Computer Literate:** Be computer literate and competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP/MRP systems.
- **Good Communicator:** Be a good communicator, friendly, and approachable, with a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving.
Desirable Qualifications:
- **CMI Level 2 Team Leadership Diploma:** Hold a CMI Level 2 Team Leadership Diploma or other supervisor training courses.
- **Basic/General Manual Machining:** Have experience in basic/manual machining, including turning and milling.
- **Electro-Mechanical Experience:** Have experience in electro-mechanical systems.
- **Forklift Counterbalance Licence:** Hold a forklift counterbalance licence.
- **First Aid at Work Certificate:** Hold a First Aid at Work Certificate.
