Financial Accounting Specialist

Overview of Head of Financial Reporting & Accounting Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting to join our team at Skilled Careers. The successful candidate will report directly to the Divisional Finance Director and be responsible for the integration of an acquisition into our fast-growing and exciting organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on the financial reporting and accounting integration of an acquisition into our organisation.
- Play a significant role in managing and promoting a best-in-class financial control and reporting framework.
- Lead key projects such as adoption of IFRS15 and IFRS16.
- Lead internal treasury management requirements.
- Establish fair value of net assets acquired and prepare acquisition accounting entries and notes to the financial statements.
- Liaise with the acquisition's incumbent auditors and Group auditors to execute a plan that enables statutory accounts sign-off within the Group audit timetable.
- Lead a gap analysis of accounting policies between the acquisition and within the Group. Create a plan to harmonise policies, or document ongoing differences.
- Ensure comprehensive accountability for monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and govern central risks and control over the acquisition's balance sheet.
- Manage technical and central accounting areas such as provisions, insurance, pensions, property, intercompany, VAT, CIS, and Apprentice Levy.
Requirements for Head of Financial Reporting & Accounting Role:
- ACA/ACCA qualified with strong training acquired preferably within a Big 4 audit firm. 5+ years PQE.
- Acquisition experience.
- In addition to your training, you must be able to demonstrate relevant experience in industry, gained in the financial accounting function of a mid/large size organisation.
- Strong technical accounting skill set e.g., preparation of statutory and consolidated accounts under IFRS/UK GAAP.
- Leadership skills will be crucial in providing solutions for technical accounting scenarios for the commercial teams.
- Strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Systems literate, with a focus on process improvement.
