Role Overview

Are you a seasoned chef with a passion for culinary excellence and a desire to work independently? If so, our Relief Team presents an exciting opportunity to join an organization that prioritizes the well-being of young individuals and creates inspiring meals for students.

As a Relief Chef, you will cover a designated area of Independent Schools within the expanding South-East region, typically within a 40 to 50-mile radius of Tonbridge. A company vehicle will be provided, or mileage and fuel expenses will be reimbursed. We offer flexibility in terms of hours, contracts, and locations for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for long-term sickness, general absences, holidays, and recruitment gaps.
• Ensure that the quality and presentation of all dishes align with company standards and client expectations.
• Assist in menu planning and development, considering dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and seasonal ingredients.
• Adapt quickly to various kitchen environments and team dynamics.
• Fill in for permanent chefs as necessary, maintaining consistency and quality.
• Be available to work in multiple locations within the assigned geographical area.
• Collaborate with the catering team to execute special events, themed dinners, and other culinary initiatives.
• Promote a positive working atmosphere by demonstrating leadership, effective communication, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role within a contract catering environment or educational institution is preferred.
• Culinary degree or relevant certifications from a recognized culinary institution.
• Strong understanding of food safety standards and best practices.
• Ability to multitask and perform efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Strong organizational skills and a team-oriented mindset.
