Job Title: Mental Health Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mental Health Nurse to join our team at the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work in an acute setting, providing high-quality care to patients with mental health conditions. As a key member of the multidisciplinary care team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating care, while promoting health, patient safety, and best practice.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, taking into account mental, physical, social, cultural, psychological, spiritual, and environmental factors.
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines, patients, and their carers to develop a holistic care plan that addresses the patient's needs.
  • Deliver safe, competent patient-centred care, supporting the patient's recovery and well-being.
Requirements
  • RMN or equivalent qualification.
  • Completion of a preceptorship programme.
  • Evidence of post-qualification personal and practice development.
Experience
  • Pre-registration experience in mental health settings and/or working with people with mental health conditions.
  • Experience of working in an acute mental health setting.
  • Some clinical experience of mental health problems.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge and experience in working with patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007).
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to apply relevant legislative frameworks and policies relating to care.
  • A basic understanding and ability to apply principles of risk assessment and risk management.
  • Effective organisational/planning and decision-making skills.
