Position Title: Student Transport Behaviour Analyst

Role Overview:

The Essex County Council is dedicated to ensuring that children and young individuals who are out of education or at risk of missing educational opportunities have access to suitable, high-quality alternative educational provisions. This role is pivotal in developing tailored solutions to minimize the risks associated with time spent outside of formal education and to ensure effective management of placements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety and improving behaviour during school commutes, whether through dedicated school transport services or public transport systems.
  • Utilize exceptional communication skills to address sensitive issues and collaborate with educational institutions to devise solutions for challenges affecting transport services.
  • Oversee project budgets, ensuring that all initiatives are executed within financial constraints while achieving desired outcomes.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student behaviour incidents and appeals, enabling effective local issue resolution and recommendations for action.
  • Support educational institutions and families by facilitating meetings and delivering presentations, fostering ongoing dialogue with stakeholders to enhance behaviour management.
  • Propose behaviour improvement projects to cultivate strong relationships with internal and external partners, the community, and service providers.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to define business needs and ensure the delivery of quality, timely, and cost-effective services that meet customer expectations.
  • Engage in strategic planning and implementation of projects aimed at reducing antisocial behaviour impacting transport services.
  • Establish individual and collective performance targets within the annual performance management framework.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and expertise in relevant fields.
  • Proven track record in project management and successful delivery of multi-agency initiatives within budgetary limits.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing capabilities, with a talent for persuading stakeholders.
  • Experience in achieving results in complex, customer-facing environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to large groups.
  • Significant background in transport and/or safeguarding sectors.
  • Experience navigating political environments, with skills in understanding diverse perspectives and adopting a cross-organizational approach.
