Job Title: SEMH Specialist Teacher

We are seeking an experienced Tutor with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to provide 1:1 educational support to a student in Okehampton.

About the Role:

As a SEMH Specialist Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering core subject support (English, Maths & Science) to a Year 10 student who is not currently accessing mainstream education. The student will be sitting their GCSEs in the summer term, and you will be required to deliver 15 hours per week as an alternative provision.

The sessions will take place face-to-face at the student's school in Okehampton, and you must be available to work face-to-face and be prepared to travel for the sessions as well as online where needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver core subject support (English, Maths & Science) to a Year 10 student
  • Provide 1:1 educational support to the student
  • Work with the student to gather their own resources and deliver the curriculum
  • Have experience working with SEND, particularly SEMH and challenging behaviour
  • Hold QTS and have a background in teaching or private tutoring
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching within a school environment or tutoring students on a 1:1 basis
  • Ability to teach at least 1 or all of the core subjects
  • SEND experience, particularly SEMH and challenging behaviour
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service
  • Up to date Safeguarding & Prevent Training issued within the last year
