We are seeking a highly skilled scientist to join our team at ECO Magazine.

Job Summary:

As a Marine Chemist, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and applying high-performance analytical chemistry techniques for marine autonomous carbonate sensor systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize new and innovative sensors for marine carbonate chemistry parameters such as pH, dissolved inorganic carbon, total alkalinity, and partial pressure of CO2.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to deploy sensors widely in the environment, including marine autonomous platforms and fixed monitoring stations.
  • Provide data for use in environmental and climate modeling, industrial applications, and improving our understanding of the Ocean's carbon cycle.
  • Collaborate with engineers, research staff, technical staff, and students to achieve project goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree and Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Marine Chemistry, Chemical Oceanography, or closely related discipline.
  • Prior theoretical knowledge of marine carbonate chemistry and practical experience in carbonate chemistry analysis.
  • Proven experience in generating research funding, leading projects, and teams.

What We Offer:

A hybrid working approach with the option to work from home up to 2 days per week. Support for visa applications for those outside the UK willing to relocate.
