Job Title: Marine Electronic Engineer

Catfoss Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a leading marine company to recruit a Marine Electronic Engineer for their expanding team on a permanent basis.

Job Summary:

The Marine Electronic Engineer will be responsible for conducting installations, providing maintenance and repairs services for vessels' safety, communications, and navigation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work with the Principal Engineer and appointed Administrator to ensure the efficient operation of the Marine Service Centre and maintain existing client relationships.
  2. Carry out installation and commissioning of equipment on customers' vessels and premises.
  3. Perform maintenance and repair of equipment on customers' vessels and on company premises.
  4. Conduct surveys and inspections of ship radio communications and radio navigational installations, subject to being in possession of the appropriate qualifications, accreditations, and experience.
  5. Be competent with marine equipment and integrated systems in line with your experience and qualifications.
  6. Travel to other UK and Foreign locations as required.

Requirements:

  1. Past experience in a service industry and in-depth knowledge of Marine Navigation and communication systems.
  2. HNC/HND or equivalent in an Electronics / Electrical discipline.
  3. Full driving licence.
  4. Radio survey experience.
  5. Experience working for a marine electronics service company.
  6. Navigation and Communications manufacturers training courses.

Personal Attributes:

  1. Excellent communicator, able to express ideas in both written and verbal form to a variety of audiences.
  2. Proven ability to think in an entrepreneurial way and apply good commercial business sense to technical decisions.
  3. Technical competency, able to show an in-depth understanding of the rules and regulations surrounding the marine industry as well as knowledge of electronics engineering.
  4. Working knowledge of the UK maritime market including relevant suppliers.

Working Conditions:

  1. This role is full time and will require regular travel both in the UK and overseas.
  2. As this is a service role, there is a reasonable expectation for flexibility with working hours and willingness to undertake overtime.
  3. There will also be an element of office-based working.
  4. All Marine Electronics Engineers must be able to pass a working at height medical and pass an annual practical training course.
