About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Freight and Commodities Market Researcher to join our analytics team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for producing detailed reports on commodity and freight markets, ensuring high-quality insights. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving business growth and informing strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regularly produce detailed reports on commodity and freight markets, ensuring high-quality insights.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis and Industry Commentary: Write and promote timely, ad-hoc pieces that respond to industry news, trends, or client needs.
  • Hands-on Data Work and Quality Assurance: Engage directly with Signal data, spending significant time on quality assurance and refining data to ensure it's client-ready and easily drives reports.
  • Data Scouting and Collection: Scout, collect, and integrate data from sources outside of Signal to complement existing datasets and drive comprehensive analysis.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, engineering, or a related field from a Tier 1 university.
  • More than 2 years of experience as an analyst or consulting role.
  • Strong motivation to deep dive and understand the market, its developments, and trends.
  • SQL knowledge.
  • Strong logical/analytical skills.
  • Experience working with large, disparate, and/or unstructured data sets, possess excellent analytical ability, at ease with working with databases, and able to highlight trends and use complex data to support decisions.
  • Ability to work with several stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Python is a plus, but not a prerequisite.
  • Detailed knowledge of data analysis methods.
  • Strong English knowledge (both written and spoken).
  • Prior experience in the commodities industry is a plus.
