Job Overview

Join a dedicated multi-disciplinary team in the coordination and execution of a thorough cardiac rehabilitation and prevention program as part of Wirral Community Cardiology Services.

Key Responsibilities

As part of a collaborative team, you will lead a comprehensive exercise and education program for individuals referred after a cardiovascular incident or diagnosis. Your responsibilities will include managing a diverse caseload of patients from initial referral to discharge, assessing functional capacity, and prescribing exercise tailored to various complexities. Additionally, you will contribute to the Tier 3 weight management service, providing exercise guidance and assessments for individuals on the bariatric pathway.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications and Professional Training

Essential

  • A minimum of a 2:1 BSc in Exercise Physiology or a closely related field

Desirable

  • Evidence of postgraduate studies in relevant areas
  • Qualifications as an exercise instructor
  • Immediate Life Support certification
  • Membership in the British Association of Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR)
  • Capability to conduct Exercise Tolerance Testing for diagnostic and prescriptive purposes

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Proven experience in facilitating both group and individual exercise sessions for various patient demographics
  • Experience in conducting group education sessions
  • Familiarity with the Nursing 6 C's
  • Up-to-date knowledge of national and local strategies aimed at reducing cardiovascular disease (CVD)

Desirable

  • Experience in a cardiovascular rehabilitation environment
  • Experience in managing a clinical caseload
