Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Grantham College. As a key member of our SEND department, you will play a vital role in supporting students with physical and/or learning needs.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience working with young people in educational, youth work, or similar settings. You will have a strong awareness of disabilities, SEND reforms, and behavior management strategies. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written skills are essential, as well as a Level 2 Literacy/Numeracy qualification and a Learning Support Qualification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level support to learners with physical and/or learning needs within the classroom, break times, and individually.
  • Assist with preparation of learning support documentation and resources in accordance with lesson plans and learner need.
  • Provide verbal and written feedback on lesson content, learning activities, and student behavior.
  • Support the role of parents/carers in student learning and contribute informally to meetings with parents to provide constructive feedback on student progress.
  • Evaluate student progress through a range of assessment activities.
  • Support the teaching staff by contributing to SEND paperwork, such as completing LSA support plans and contributing to Transition Plans and ILPs where applicable.
