Octavius Infrastructure's rail division is experiencing significant growth due to key contract acquisitions in the Southern region, focusing on Electrification and Plant Renewals. To bolster our engineering expertise, we are seeking an additional Planner. This role offers flexibility, allowing you to manage your schedule by visiting project sites and offices regularly while also working from home to meet the demands of our project portfolio.
As a prominent civil engineering firm, we are dedicated to delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transportation solutions throughout the UK.
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop, produce, and update project schedules across various disciplines.
- Collaborate with estimators and the delivery team to create commercially viable schedules for clients.
- Assist in identifying and assessing project risks, focusing on planning and overall project health.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, Octavius', and client mandatory policies and procedures within the governance framework.
- Foster relationships with other teams to share resources, innovations, and processes for efficient delivery.
- Identify opportunities for improved efficiency and outcomes.
- Prioritize safety, health, and wellbeing in all decision-making processes.
- Integrate environmental sustainability into decision-making.
- Engage actively in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Your Collaborators:
You will work closely with pre-delivery managers, clients, stakeholders, our primary design partner, other designers, supplier partners, and delivery teams to plan a cohesive package of works and develop solutions that exceed client expectations.

Your Qualifications:
- Engineering expertise with relevant experience in disciplines such as rail structures, buildings, geotechnical, E&P, or OHL.
- Proficient in planning software to create clear, understandable, and realistic schedules.
- Ability to plan from foundational principles.
- Familiarity with planning software (e.g., MS-Project, Asta Powerproject, or P6 Primavera).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good understanding of NEC3 and its application to contract programming.
- Knowledge of construction design principles.
Your Experience:
- A relevant degree, diploma, or vocational qualification, or equivalent demonstrable experience in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Completion of courses pertinent to a career in planning.
- Previous experience with a tier one or two contracting group in rail infrastructure projects.
