Job Title: Specialty Doctor in Geriatric Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Geriatric Medicine to join our team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Department of Medicine for Older People, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and expanding department, where you will be responsible for participating in the out-of-hours and weekend on-call frailty rota. You will also provide supervision, assistance, and instruction to junior medical staff, ensuring they receive the best possible training and support.

As a Specialty Doctor in Geriatric Medicine, you will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient care, communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the out-of-hours and weekend on-call frailty rota
  • Provide supervision, assistance, and instruction to junior medical staff
  • Work in accordance with GMC good medical practice and Trust/Department policies
  • Communicate relevant clinical information to other healthcare professionals
  • Teach and supervise medical students, PA students, nurses, and junior trainees
  • Support and develop quality improvement initiatives
  • Perform occasional duties at the acute trust, as required

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Geriatric Medicine who meets the following criteria:

  • Medical Degree
  • Minimum four years full-time postgraduate training in Geriatric Medicine
  • Previous experience in Geriatric Medicine
  • Full MRCP or equivalent
  • MSc or equivalent
