About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Midwife Band 5 to join our team at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. As a key member of our maternity care team, you will provide exceptional care to mothers and babies during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality midwifery care to patients, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
  • Take autonomous clinical decisions in emergency situations to ensure safe outcomes for mothers and babies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safely manage obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
  • Implement evidence-based midwifery and medical practices.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and use advocacy, counselling, negotiating, and liaison skills to support patients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain custody of drugs and medicines according to the Misuse of Drugs Act.
  • Participate in internal rotation to day and night duty within clinical areas of the Midwifery Service.
Requirements
  • NMC Part 10 register or equivalent.
  • Experience in both ward and delivery suite areas.
  • Academic and/or professional/vocational training and development.
  • Minimum introduction to IV cannulations, suturing, scrubbing in theatre, epidural top-ups, and resuscitation of newborns.
  • Previous experience working as a midwife or Band 5 grade nurse.
