Job Description

Job Title: Occupational Therapist - Medical Rehabilitation Team Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Occupational Therapist to lead our medical rehabilitation therapy team at West Middlesex University Hospital. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing specialist assessment and intervention to a wide range of medical and care of the elderly patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the Medical Rehabilitation Therapy Service: You will lead the medical rehabilitation therapy service alongside the band 7 physiotherapist, providing development and support to more junior staff.
  2. Provide Specialist Assessment and Intervention: You will provide specialist assessment and intervention to a wide range of medical and care of the elderly patients, with the occasion for orthopaedic, general surgical and neurological outliers.
  3. Manage Caseload and Discharge Planning: You will require broad acute clinical experience, strong caseload management and complex discharge planning skills.
  4. Supervise and Develop Junior Staff: You will be responsible for the supervision, teaching and day to day line management of more junior staff and students on placement.
  5. Participate in Research and Audit: You will have the opportunity to participate in or lead a departmental research and audit project and service development.

Working Arrangements:

The Therapy Department operates a 5 in 7 rota to provide seven day therapy across the service. You will be expected to contribute to weekend working, which may include working in other areas, including the emergency department.
