Our client is a leading global energy and commodity trading group, renowned for its commercial acumen and innovative approach to the industry.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Middle Office Analyst to join our London team, responsible for oil (financial) traded products, position reporting, pricing, and adherence to trading limits.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce daily Profit and Loss (PnL) and Risk reports for the London Oil trading desk, providing a breakdown and explanation of key drivers.
- Develop weekly management reporting on all portfolios, communicating changes to risk profiles with concise narrative.
- Design and implement non-linear risk reporting for option portfolios.
- Monitor prices and volatility, ensuring accurate IPV.
- Enhance the reporting platform and risk decomposition, collaborating with the Tech team.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for communicating changes to risk profile to management, providing clear narrative and commercial understanding.
- Support complex trade booking and maintain a good understanding of financial derivatives, including options and option sensitivities.
- Interact frequently with traders to understand core positions and trading rationale.
- Implement new controls, liaising with the Tech team to improve and enhance processes.
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree in a numerate subject (Mathematics, Financial Mathematics, Mathematical Finance, etc.).
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- 1-5 years' experience in Middle Office/Product Control/Risk Management in an energy/commodities trading environment, with oil experience highly preferred.
- Technical competence with ETRM systems and tools, specifically Openlink/Endur/ICTS.
- Self-starter, organized, and autonomous, with a process improvement mindset.
- Fluent English, speaking and writing.
- Advanced Excel skills, VBA, SQL, Python preferred, with data visualization experience in Tableau/Dash.
- Passionate about risk and processes, capable of working with business lines to embed risk awareness and culture into everyday processes.
