About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Research Associate to join our team and contribute to the development of superconducting power devices for electric aircraft. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for leading the design of superconducting power devices, including superconducting fault current limiters, superconducting cables, and superconducting rotating machines.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a project that aims to electrify aviation and reduce its carbon footprint. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with academic and industrial partners, communicate your research findings, and contribute to the delivery of project work packages.

As a Research Associate, you will be expected to undertake research activity under the guidance of the principal investigator and focus on superconducting power devices and cryogenic cooling systems for electric aircraft applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop superconducting power devices, including superconducting fault current limiters, superconducting cables, and superconducting rotating machines.
  • Conduct finite element modeling and experimental characterization of superconducting power devices.
  • Collaborate with academic and industrial partners to communicate research findings and contribute to project work packages.
  • Undertake research activity under the guidance of the principal investigator.
Requirements
  • PhD (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or relevant areas.
  • Prior expertise in design of large-scale superconducting power devices.
  • Skills for finite element modeling and experimental characterization of superconducting power devices.
  • Knowledge of cryogenic cooling systems and thermal design is a plus.
