About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Principal Sustainability Consultant to join our team at Penguin Recruitment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a team of specialists and consultants, delivering energy, sustainability, and overheating strategies to a broad spectrum of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Identify training and development needs of the team, ensure workload is effectively managed and assigned, and coordinate service delivery across multiple disciplines.
- Business Development: Work with the Commercial Director to develop a business plan for the planning and IES team, covering investment, market opportunity, recruitment, and software opportunities.
- Reporting and Compliance: Ensure that reports are compiled against all relevant regulatory and planning requirements, both current and future, to future-proof our clients' developments.
- Process Improvement: Review completed projects to identify process improvements and training opportunities.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Degree qualified within a relevant subject such as Environmental Science/Engineering.
- Professional Certifications: Chartered from CIBSE or the Energy Institute.
- Skills and Knowledge: Excellent understanding of the GLA and local borough planning requirements and their interaction with both Approved Document L of the Building Regulations and the upcoming Future Homes Standard.
- Experience: Have a firm understanding of overheating management strategies through the use of dynamic simulation modelling through IES.
- Industry Accreditations: Knowledge of industry accreditations schemes such as BREEAM, WELL, NABERS are beneficial but not essential.
- Passivhaus Standard: Have knowledge of Passivhaus standard and operational energy modelling processes (CIBSE TM54) and whole life cycle carbon assessments (preferably using One Click LCA).
