Role Overview:
As a Project Engineer specializing in Governance, you will be instrumental in shaping the engineering operating framework and governance system. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing policies and processes for the design and development phases of the program.
  • Establishing an internal assurance framework.
  • Collaborating with the Airworthiness Team to facilitate design organization approvals and technical role appointments.
  • Serving as a key liaison for engineering governance between the joint business entity and the UK industry Lead Systems Integrator.
  • Partnering with the COO Central Engineering Governance team to promote best practices and provide support.
  • Leading a small team of engineers.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:
  • Degree in a STEM field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in Engineering Governance within Defence programs.
  • Ability to create and implement engineering processes, tools, and innovative solutions while adhering to governance standards.
  • Experience in managing a small team, including task management and performance evaluations.

Desirable:
  • Familiarity with engineering governance principles from diverse areas.
  • Experience working with external customers, such as the UK MOD.

About the FCAS Team:
This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Global Combat Air Programme/Future Combat Air System Acquisition Programme. You will support UK industry and international partners in developing and deploying components of the Engineering Operating Framework and Governance System.

The ideal candidate will be proactive and collaborative, possessing strong communication skills to effectively address Engineering Governance issues with both specialists and non-specialists. This position offers a unique chance to represent BAE Systems and the UK Industry on a global platform, contributing to the long-term success of the Nation's Industrial Air Sector.
