Opportunity Overview:

The role of the Global Operations Associate is vital in realizing Flexport's mission to simplify global trade for all. Flexport connects nearly 10,000 clients and suppliers across 109 countries. In this position, your primary customers will be the partners within your region, including account management, customs teams, subcontractors, carriers, terminals, and trucking providers. Your contributions will directly assist Flexport's end customers in reaching their logistics objectives. Most importantly, you will play a crucial role in developing the next operational model at Flexport, enabling us to scale effectively and fulfill our mission of making global trade more accessible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact to ensure the highest standards of Flexport quality, ensuring shipments are delivered on time and that exceptions are managed appropriately.
  • Be accountable for meeting internal KPIs and SLAs that reflect quality service delivery.
  • Implement clients' standard operating procedures (SOP) efficiently.
  • Resolve client issues promptly and ensure seamless operations at both origin and destination, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Collaborate with your team to:
    • Coordinate daily logistics operations with internal and external partners, including steamship lines, air carriers, intermodal and drayage vendors, customs, trade lane management, warehousing, transloading, trucking, and the air operations team.
    • Manage the complete movement of freight shipments within a regional network, covering both imports and exports, including intermodal movements.
    • Support shipments handled by partners as we promote partner autonomy (if applicable in your region).

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS/HBO/MBO Degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, ocean carrier operations, or consulting (knowledge of ocean freight is advantageous).
  • Valid visa/work permit to work in the UK.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Able to adapt to new technologies and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of tasks.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to effectively seek and receive feedback.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Focus on working smarter and embracing best practices and standardization.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • A compliance-first mindset to ensure satisfaction among regulators, given the heavily regulated nature of our industry.
