Job Description

Job Title: Technical Shift Leader - Network Restoration

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Shift Leader to join our team at SSE plc. As a Technical Shift Leader, you will be responsible for the efficient restoration of supplies during outages on the Low Voltage Distribution network, ensuring safety is the number one priority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Low Voltage Distribution network incidents, prioritizing response and driving efficient restoration plans.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to field and office staff.
  • Focus on safety, leading customer performance, minimizing Customer Interruptions and Customer Minutes Lost.
  • Monitor network activity and data provided by thousands of substation monitors to drive a proactive fault management response.
  • Assist in both proactive and reactive fault response, driving best practice with the installation of automation and monitoring devices.
  • Ensure customers are central in decisions to provide excellent service, performance, and value.
  • Ensure all work is done safely, following distribution safety rules, local processes, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
  • Authorized to work on SSE's distribution network.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the electrical distribution system, including a detailed understanding of Ofgem regulations, IIS reporting, and RIGs.
  • Ability to explain network impact and good practices to field staff for better performance.
  • Good IT literacy with an ability to multi-task across a variety of systems while collecting accurate data quickly.
