Fortius Clinic is a leading private orthopaedic and sports injury group, dedicated to providing exceptional musculoskeletal care.

As a Senior Theatre Practitioner, you will be part of a newly formed theatre team, working in a state-of-the-art facility in London's West End. You will be responsible for the management and organisation of the operating department, ensuring smooth, timely and efficient processes and procedures within a safe environment.

You will lead a team of scrub practitioners, working closely with anaesthetic and recovery colleagues. The ASC is a day care centre with three operating theatres dedicated to orthopaedic surgery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of scrub practitioners, taking overall responsibility for the delivery of the service.
  • Assemble, check and prepare surgical instruments and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures.
  • Conduct mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre wound closure.
  • Monitor patient condition throughout the procedure, taking appropriate action to manage any arising complications.
  • Lead and mentor the scrub team and theatre staff more widely.
  • Ensure any accidents or complaints are fully documented and that the appropriate manager is informed.
  • Drive improvement in practice and policy when changes have arisen resulting from an audit, complaint or newly issued guidance.
  • Work within NMC or HPC Codes of Practice.
  • Fortius Clinic Staff – internal and external to ASC.

Requirements

  • Registered Practitioner with NMC or HPC registration.
  • Surgical First Assistant course.
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time, reacting quickly in an emergency when required.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Knowledge of orthopaedic day surgery.
