Senior Arboricultural Consultant

RPS Group is seeking a skilled Arboricultural Consultant to enhance our team within the Landscape Business Unit, which comprises Arboriculturists and Landscape Architects. You will work autonomously and collaboratively to ensure the successful execution of diverse projects across various sectors throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities

The nature of our work ensures that each week presents new challenges, requiring you to balance time between office tasks and fieldwork throughout the year. The variety and complexity of projects will be both demanding and fulfilling. Your typical responsibilities will include:

· Conducting site visits and performing tree assessments in line with BS5837 standards and evaluating tree conditions using digital data collection tools.

· Drafting and compiling tree-related documentation, including Tree Surveys, Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA), and Method Statements (AMS).

· Preparing reports on tree health and condition while providing expert advice.

· Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, project groups, and clients to address tree-related issues and achieve successful project results.

Ideal Candidate Profile

You should be a certified member of The Arboricultural Association and/or The Institute of Chartered Foresters, ideally possessing the following qualifications:

· A Level 4 Arboricultural qualification (or equivalent).

· Comprehensive knowledge of BS5837:2012 'Trees in Relation to Design, Demolition and Construction – Recommendations.'

· Exceptional tree identification skills along with a solid understanding of tree morphology and management practices.

· Proven experience in conducting tree surveys and preparing relevant reports, including Impact Assessments (AIA) and Method Statements (AMS).

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

· Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, and/or similar tree management software is advantageous.

· Ability to work independently to meet deadlines while also functioning effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

· Strong interpersonal skills to foster productive working relationships with colleagues and clients.

· Experience providing evidence at Public Inquiry or Hearings is beneficial but not essential.

· Willingness to travel nationally as required.
