Position Overview:
Our client, a leading contractor in the water and civil engineering sector, is currently in search of a Senior Project Coordinator to enhance their team.

Role Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of small-scale environmental design and construction initiatives. The primary focus will be on managing projects efficiently and safely, thereby contributing to the profitable delivery of services.

Key duties include:

  • Ensuring safe and effective project execution while managing client expectations and relationships.
  • Collaborating with various departments, supply chains, and stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of quality, safety, and value.
  • Simultaneously managing multiple phases of complex projects, including those under framework agreements.
  • Ensuring projects are completed within budget, on schedule, and to the required quality standards while effectively managing safety and environmental considerations.

Project Management Phases:
The role encompasses the following critical stages:

  • Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) as necessary
  • Estimating and tendering processes
  • Design management for both permanent and temporary works
  • Construction and delivery oversight
  • Project closure, including final account settlements

Contract Management:
Act as the Contractor under relevant contract types to ensure efficient management, maximizing value through exemplary contract administration.

Continuous Improvement:
Contribute significantly to the enhancement of project management processes and construction standards, focusing on quality, safety, and value across services.

Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Project Coordinator will:

  • Take full ownership of projects from initiation to successful completion.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, seeking new opportunities while enhancing existing partnerships.
  • Lead by example, promoting a culture of safety and compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Support Site Managers and mentor less experienced team members, ensuring effective communication of business issues.
  • Plan and sequence project activities in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
  • Monitor project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to prevent delays and ensure timely delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract budgets and cash flow forecasts for informed decision-making.
  • Maintain project schedules using project management software.
  • Ensure financial information is updated and reflects project changes accurately.
  • Account for the delivery of agreed profit margins on all projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations throughout project phases.
  • Manage design consultants for both permanent and temporary works as required.
  • Conduct project meetings, prepare minutes, and produce regular reports on project status, including budget, progress, and risk management.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and escalate significant risks to management.
  • Develop and maintain a risk and opportunities register for all projects.
  • Consider environmental and heritage issues at all project stages.

Decision-Making Authority:
The Senior Project Coordinator will:

  • Manage projects of varying complexity and value.
  • Utilize experience to make informed decisions regarding risk management and project adjustments.
  • Prioritize competing project elements to ensure timely delivery.
  • Determine when to escalate issues to senior management for guidance.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Extensive experience in managing complex projects, preferably with a focus on Design & Build.
  • A degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a proven track record of delivering profitable projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • A valid driving license and willingness to travel as required.
  • A proactive and positive attitude.
