The Opportunity

Avantor is seeking an experienced and skilled Research Associate to join our team in Cambridge, UK. In this role, you will be part of a laboratory-based group responsible for laboratory management, operation of Bioassay Development Mammalian Tissue Culture Suit, and maintaining team compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop biochemical and cell-based potency assays based on drug mode of action and carry out routine sample testing
  • Maintain mammalian cell line cultures and frozen stocks
  • Review and prepare data from conducted experiments
  • Discuss experimental findings at internal and cross-functional meetings and coordinate with other groups across the business
  • Plan future experiments based on customer deadlines and needs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a life-science discipline or equivalent experience of at least 1 year in a hands-on laboratory role
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of mammalian cell culturing
  • Previous working experience in a life science laboratory environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Good Laboratory Standards (GLS)
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good time management skills, ability to flex and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis
  • Excellent organization, prioritizing, and planning skills
