Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Manchester team, specializing in transportation, utilities, and highways projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading project management commissions, ensuring end-to-end service delivery, and acting as the primary client interface.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project management commissions, taking ownership of end-to-end service delivery, often for large or complex projects.
  • Act as the key day-to-day client interface, ensuring client objectives are met and projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Scope

Senior Project Managers handle commissions of varying sizes, depending on project complexity. Typically, projects fall within the £10m to £25m range, although larger projects may be involved in advisory roles, such as urban regeneration funding.

Key Accountabilities
  • Project management, including:
    • Advising at a strategic level at project inception, providing guidance on approaches to achieve client objectives.
    • Preparing and maintaining project requirements definitions.
    • Establishing project success criteria, including time, cost, technical, and performance parameters.
    • Implementing effective project governance, processes, and systems.
    • Preparing and maintaining project schedules, including master project plans.
    • Managing project development in accordance with approved plans and targets.
    • Leading and facilitating cross-functional project teams.
    • Monitoring and applying performance management techniques, including KPIs to improve project performance.
    • Managing project information flow between teams and clients through regular meetings and written communications.
    • Identifying and monitoring project risks, planning, and implementing risk mitigations.
    • Preparing formal project progress and other reports.
    • Interfacing with clients, other consultants, and managing stakeholders at all project stages.
    • Advising clients on Health & Safety and Environmental issues and risks.
    • Planning and managing quality, safety, health, and environment issues.
Qualifications

Senior Project Managers will be judged on the extent to which:

  • Projects are managed to the right quality standards and completed efficiently, on time, and to budget.
  • Project delivery meets client objectives and is in line with the conditions of appointment.
  • The project team is led effectively.
  • General line management responsibilities (where applicable) are effectively discharged.
  • Business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities, are identified and acted upon.
  • The internal financial status of all projects is effectively monitored.
  • Key information and data are effectively cascaded and appropriately retained.
  • Experience on large scheme projects (£100m plus) is demonstrated.
