About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Developer to join our team at OpenSourced - Search & Selection. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in driving data-led initiatives to inform business decisions and optimize operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying areas for system improvement, enhancing our data infrastructure, and ensuring alignment with our overall business objectives. You will also provide strategic insights and oversight to ensure data solutions support our company's future growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, Develop, and Maintain Data Pipelines: Develop and maintain data pipelines between business systems and our data warehouse, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery.
  • Build and Optimize Power BI Reporting Solutions: Design and develop high-performing Power BI reporting solutions to meet evolving business needs, providing actionable insights to inform business decisions.
  • Monitor and Troubleshoot Data Pipeline Issues: Identify and resolve data pipeline issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to our business operations.
  • Optimize Power BI DAX: Enhance Power BI DAX to deliver high-performing reports, providing users with timely and accurate insights.
  • Manage Version Control of Data Components: Ensure robust governance of pipelines, reports, and integration processes, using version control systems like Git/GitHub.
  • Conduct Testing Across All Data Pipeline Components: Perform thorough testing to ensure high-quality solutions, meeting our company's standards.
  • Be the Key Point of Contact for All Data Solutions: Serve as the primary point of contact for all data solutions, ensuring the business has access to the data they need to make informed decisions.
  • Apply Modern Cloud-First Principles: Design high-standard data solutions using modern cloud-first principles, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with IT and Business Teams: Work closely with our IT and business teams to support data function improvements, helping junior staff members and bridging technical knowledge gaps.
  • Drive the Delivery of Data and Business Intelligence Requirements: Lead the delivery of data and business intelligence requirements across multiple projects, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Work Closely with Business Units: Collaborate with business units to understand their data challenges and drive positive change in data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop and Implement Data Quality Improvement Roadmaps: Develop and implement data quality improvement roadmaps for core applications, ensuring high-quality data delivery.
  • Collaborate with Internal IT Teams: Work closely with our internal IT teams (service desk, infrastructure, security, software engineers) to ensure smooth delivery of solutions.
  • Proactively Suggest and Implement Data Quality Improvements: Identify and implement data quality improvements to drive business benefits, ensuring our company's data is accurate and reliable.
  • Manage Sprints Within Agile Project Management Guidelines: Manage sprints within agile project management guidelines, ensuring timely delivery and meeting our company's standards.
  • Provide Clear Analysis, Plans, and Timescales: Provide clear analysis, plans, and timescales for delivering key functionality across different departments, ensuring our business operations run smoothly.
Requirements
  • Strong Experience with Python or TypeScript: Possess strong experience with Python or TypeScript, with a solid understanding of database concepts and cloud infrastructure.
  • Advanced SQL Skills: Have advanced SQL skills, with experience in Redshift or OLAP systems, and a deep understanding of database concepts.
  • Solid Understanding of Database Concepts: Possess a solid understanding of database concepts, including DDL, DML, DQL, TCL, and DCL.
  • Query Optimisation Expertise: Have query optimisation expertise and experience improving performance, ensuring our data solutions are efficient and reliable.
  • Proficiency in Liquibase and Infrastructure as Code: Be proficient in Liquibase and infrastructure as code (ideally Terraform), ensuring our data solutions are scalable and reliable.
  • Experience Using Version Control Systems: Have experience using version control systems like Git/GitHub, and familiarity with modern DevOps principles.
  • Expertise in Integrating Data from Various Sources: Possess expertise in integrating data from various sources, such as REST APIs, SOAP APIs, S/FTP servers, GraphQL, and webhooks.
  • Experience with AWS Serverless Infrastructure: Have experience with AWS serverless infrastructure, such as API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, SNS, and Kinesis.
  • Familiarity with ERP and Financial Systems: Possess familiarity with ERP and financial systems, along with a basic understanding of financial processes, such as ledgers.
  • Experience Working in an Agile Environment: Have experience working in an agile environment and understanding agile project management principles.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills: Have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, ensuring our data solutions are accurate and reliable.
  • Knowledge of Data Modelling Principles: Possess knowledge of data modelling principles and relational database management systems.
  • Technical Leadership Experience: Have technical leadership experience, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality data solutions.
