Job Title: Anaesthetic Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Anaesthetic Consultant to join our team at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Anaesthetist to work in a busy and dynamic department, providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Share anaesthetic workload with consultant colleagues, including participation in general anaesthetic on-call and maternity cover on-call.
  • Provide a flexible anaesthetic service to various surgical specialties, including general surgery, colorectal surgery, orthopaedic, trauma, gynaecology, urology, ENT, dental, and emergency surgery.
  • Participate in the department's quality improvement programmes under the direction of the Clinical Lead.
  • Be expected to fulfill criteria for clinical supervision and encouraged to participate in educational supervision to develop training and teaching skills.
  • Be encouraged to show leadership qualities to develop services and contribute to the department's strategic direction.
Requirements
  • MBBS or Basic Medical Degree.
  • On the UK (GMC) Specialist Register or within 6 months of completion of UK Anaesthetic training.
  • Postgraduate Degree in Education.
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required to gain UK CCT in Anaesthesia.
  • Ability to provide consultant cover to emergency anaesthesia and obstetric anaesthesia, including on-call.
  • Knowledge of the latest RCoA Training Curriculum and ability to train and teach anaesthetic trainees to the required standard.
  • Enthusiasm to teach medical students and healthcare professionals.
  • Interest in obstetric anaesthesia.
