About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team at Difford Kennels & Cattery. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the wellbeing of our canine and feline guests. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include feeding, grooming, and exercising the animals, while also maintaining a clean and sanitary environment within our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Feed, groom, and exercise dogs and cats in our care
  • Clean and maintain kennel and cattery facilities, ensuring hygiene standards are met
  • Monitor the health and behavior of the animals, reporting any concerns to senior staff
  • Administer medications as required and follow specific care instructions for individual pets
  • Provide enrichment activities to keep animals mentally and physically stimulated
  • Assist with check-ins and check-outs of pets, ensuring all paperwork is completed
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their animals' needs and wellbeing
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with animals is preferred
  • Strong passion for animal welfare and care
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in stressful situations
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and walking dogs
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Basic knowledge of animal behavior and health signs
