Job Description

Overview

The Staff Engineer, Mechanical Design role is responsible for leading the design and development of products, solutions, and systems for the oil and gas industry. This includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components, impacting approaches, projects, and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Development
    • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
    • Develop specialized knowledge in mechanical design and serve as a best practice/quality resource.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Have in-depth knowledge of best practices and how mechanical design integrates with other disciplines; have working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
    • Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
    • Explain difficult or sensitive information; work to build consensus and develop persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within the field.
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Design Engineering.
  • Desired Characteristics
    • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects.
