Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Assist in the development and execution of individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Facilitate both academic and social growth for students.
  • Modify teaching resources and strategies to cater to each student's specific requirements.
  • Support classroom management and implement behaviour management techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with educators and specialists to create effective learning experiences.
  • Deliver one-on-one or small group assistance to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Assist students with personal care needs when necessary.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to educators and families.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant certification.
  • Experience in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Familiarity with learning support methodologies.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Comprehensive understanding of learning support strategies.
  • Awareness of SEN, Autism, SEMH, and communication challenges.
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively and provide personalized support.
  • Proficient in manual handling practices.
  • Knowledge of PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and Phonics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional certifications in SEN support or related areas.
  • Experience with assistive technology in educational settings.
Work Environment:

The SEN Teaching Assistant will primarily operate within an educational context, engaging regularly with students with special educational needs, educators, and other professionals. The role may involve assisting with personal care and applying appropriate manual handling techniques. This is a full-time temporary position, adhering to the policies and procedures of the educational institution.

This position is temporary, with potential opportunities for permanence in the future.
