Key Responsibilities:

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, your role will involve:

  • Providing tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Facilitating individual and group learning activities to foster educational growth.
  • Assisting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their academic journey.
  • Offering reading and writing assistance to enhance literacy skills.
  • Implementing effective behavioural management strategies to promote a positive learning environment.
  • Supporting classroom organization and management.
  • Utilizing Makaton and Team Teach techniques as necessary.
Required Qualifications:

Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

Educational Background:

Relevant qualification in Education or a related field

Experience:

Prior experience working with students with Special Educational Needs

Experience with Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2

Background in supporting SEN students

Knowledge and Skills:

Comprehensive understanding of SEN and ASD

Ability to provide effective learning support

Proficiency in reading and writing support techniques

Strong behavioural and classroom management capabilities

Familiarity with Makaton and Team Teach methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional training in SEN or a related discipline

Working Conditions:

This is a temporary position based in Hackney, Greater London, offering full-time hours. You will work closely with students with Special Educational Needs, collaborating with teachers and other support staff while adhering to school policies and procedures.
