Position: Summer Camp Assistant Manager

Working Hours: 08:30-18:00, Monday to Friday (Total hours will not exceed 45 hours per week)

Compensation: £640.48 per week, subject to age, experience, qualifications, and camp size.

Accountable to: Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office. Barracudas is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young individuals, and we expect all personnel to uphold this commitment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSISTANT CAMP MANAGER

  • Facilitate and oversee induction training and the preparatory setup days prior to camp commencement.
  • Complete necessary documentation and manage high-risk activities in line with Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice.
  • Implement Health and Safety protocols to maintain a secure environment.
  • Regularly update and communicate with Area Managers and Central Office.
  • Assist the Camp Manager with daily operations, including site inspections, equipment assessments, staff oversight, financial documentation, inventory management, and communication with parents and staff.
  • Supervise the Camp Administrator and assign appropriate tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Provide support to staff during sessions as required.
  • Engage with parents and guardians effectively.
  • Act as a deputy management figure for staff, parents, guardians, and children.
  • Ensure that the site and base rooms are maintained in an orderly fashion, with all equipment properly stored.
  • Evaluate and review staff performance for end-of-season assessments.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Attendance at mandatory Senior Training events (refer to contract for details).
  • Experience in childcare environments, holiday camps, or team support roles.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Possession of an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Provision of satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Participation in and delivery of Induction Training Days (typically within the week preceding camp opening).
  • Completion of annual Online Training.
  • Coordinate the end-of-camp pack-up process.
  • At least half of the senior staff should be trained in Paediatric First Aid, depending on camp size.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Adhere to Health and Safety obligations by following established procedures and safe systems as outlined in manuals and training.
  • Be proactive and attentive when addressing safety concerns.
  • Prepare for Induction training using relevant manuals.
  • Conduct staff evaluations for each team member at the conclusion of their contract.
  • Report any Child Protection issues to a designated person at Central Office.
  • Ensure staff are informed of any children with additional, medical, or dietary requirements (may involve assisting with necessary adjustments).
  • Administer required medication correctly in accordance with EI forms and complete the necessary documentation.
  • Bring swimwear daily as it may be necessary to assist with swimming sessions.
