About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our team at SSP Group. As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will provide professional front-line employee relations advice and support to Management Teams on all aspects of employee relations, colleague welfare, performance management, people policies, data protection & right to work legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and support to line managers on employee relations, including ACAS guidelines, performance management, disciplinary processes, grievances, whistleblowing, appeals, and tribunal case preparation and management.
  • Have expert knowledge of our various people policies and guides, to provide advice and support on maternity, adoption, paternity, shared parental leave, compassionate leave, equality & diversity, attendance management, and right to work in the UK.
  • Support the implementation of our attendance policy, including unauthorised absence, some other substantial reason (SOSR), absence without leave (AWOL), short-term absence, long-term absence, reasonable adjustments, and ill-health terminations.
  • Have a good understanding of the General Data Protection Regulations to support subject access requests, right to be forgotten requests, personal details correction, privileged communications, data protection policies, ICO contact, and data breaches.
  • Support front-line managers with employment issues relating to working time regulations, fixed-term contracts, probation periods, hours consultations, redundancy consultations, and flexible working.

Requirements:

  • Up-to-date knowledge of HR legislation and best practice.
  • Great listener with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good administrative and IT skills, including experience in letter writing.
  • Ability to build key working relationships and influence colleagues at all levels.
  • CIPD Qualified or experience in HR Function or Operations with a strong ER record.
