About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Associate Director to join our team in west central Scotland. As a key member of our consult business, you will play a critical role in supporting our client's capital investment programme and delivering exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and project compliance standards.
  • Advise on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports.
  • Deliver estimating and cost planning activities, including ownership and presentation of the final cost plan.
  • Drive procurement process, ensuring all stages are performed effectively.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Supervise preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds, and licenses.
  • Accountable for the measurement of project valuations, ensuring cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively.
  • Deliver and produce cost control and reporting services to present to stakeholders.
  • Direct and manage costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities, and client charges.
  • Deliver continuous improvements in processes through application of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Oversee evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by external stakeholders.
  • Direct the issue of certificate of making good defects and final completion.
  • Manage certificates of practical completion, ensuring final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
  • Manage a large team of direct reports, driving the appropriate behaviours to achieve success and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide performance management, technical, and career development, and coaching.
  • Work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of associated carbon emissions and reductions.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering service excellence to clients.
  • Demonstrable experience across a variety of sectors and projects.
  • Proven experience in cost planning, budgeting, and estimating.
  • Sound understanding of costs and timescales of work undertaken and implications of risk of failure to deliver.
  • Proven experience of different types of contracts, including method of measurement.
  • Knowledge of BIM techniques and applications.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Digitally competent.
  • Degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent).
  • Professional membership, i.e., MRICS/RICS (or equivalent), and moving towards fellowship.
  • Detailed knowledge of forms of contract.
  • Capex V Opex cost analysis/advice.
  • Sound knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law, and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
  • Proficient knowledge and expertise in sector.
  • Technical qualification/certification for project portfolio/s (or equivalent).
  • Sound knowledge and experience of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
  • Expert knowledge and confidence to undertake and advise on contract administration and contract management.
