About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Brook Street Social Care. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality support to care leavers aged 16-25 years old who are transitioning to independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with young people who have complex needs and present challenging behavior.
- Support and work with young people to develop all aspects of independent living skills, social/life skills, problem-solving and planning skills, and reducing risk-taking behavior.
- Work collaboratively with Key Workers to achieve positive outcomes and maintain the safety and wellbeing of each young person.
- Provide trauma-informed, nurturing support in a homely environment, underpinned by a model of care that emphasizes emotional, relational, and environmental security.
- Offer various packages of support to meet the needs of individual young people, ranging from 1:1 to 2:1 staffing, and work in group living settings.
Requirements:
- Enthusiasm and commitment to working with hard-to-reach young people who have had poor experiences.
- Ability to build positive relationships quickly.
- Knowledge and experience of working in high-challenge, high-support environments (desirable).
- Ability to manage and respond to a range of behaviors using a calm, reassuring approach underpinned by support and supervision.
- Commitment to safeguarding and risk management.
- Self-motivated and confident with the ability to work unsupervised.
- Commitment to equality and diversity.
- Positive, flexible attitude towards work.

Brook Street Social Care is a restorative and person-centered organization based in the Leeds area. We deliver bespoke, wrap-around support and accommodation to care-experienced young people/adults aged 16+. Our services provide trauma-informed, nurturing homely environments in which consistent support is underpinned by a model of care that places central emphasis on emotional, relational, and environmental security.
