Job Summary

The Bristol City Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Social Work Deputy Manager to join our First Response Team. As a Deputy Team Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Team Manager and contributing to the decision-making process for referrals coming through our "front door".

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to take on a managerial role and develop their skills in a supportive environment. As a Deputy Team Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Sharing responsibility with the team of Deputy Managers for decision-making and correct pathway identification for all contacts coming through our "front door"
  • Working closely with colleagues from other organizations in our "Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub" and with internal colleagues across children's services
  • Providing advice on a range of referrals, from Early Help Services to safeguarding referrals needing urgent escalation to social work teams
  • Supporting a team of non-social work qualified First Response Advisors in their safeguarding enquiries

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A social work qualification and SW England registration
  • A comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding practice and process
  • Excellent decision-making skills
  • An ability to work effectively with multi-agency partners, universal and specialist services
  • Good team work skills and a capacity to work under pressure
