Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Field Operator to join our team at Florida Crystals / ASR Group. As a Field Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating plant equipment within the Refining Area to ensure qualitative and quantitative production targets are met in a compliant manner.

Main Responsibilities
  • Operate plant equipment to achieve required S.H.H.E.Q. standards and volumetric targets, following relevant Technical Briefing Reports (TBRAs).
  • Review and approve TBRAs with a 2-yearly review and sign-off of all relevant TBRAs.
  • Maintain compliance with all aspects of S.H.H.E.Q., liaising with others as needed for corrective action or further assistance.
  • Operate processing plant to required safety, environmental, quality, hygiene, and output standards, liaising with the Console Operator, Senior Process Technician, Shift Manager, and Area Technical Manager.
  • Utilize plant computer systems for smooth and efficient performance, interrogating systems for deviation of process parameters and taking corrective action as required.
  • Work within a team to provide a flexible and committed workforce.
  • Utilize knowledge and experience to solve problems, using judgment to call for expert assistance as needed.
  • Undertake QC analysis as appropriate, comparing results against specified process parameters and adjusting plant and processing conditions to ensure specification conformity.
  • Maintain clear and concise communications, including shift logs and safety, environment, quality, and hygiene records.
Performance Measures
  • Operation of plant in compliance with all S.H.H.E.Q. standards.
  • Adherence to all operating procedures and achievement of required final product production targets.
  • Optimization of energy, water, and steam usage and minimization of sugar loss.
  • Presentation and accuracy of shift reports and other safety, quality, environmental, and hygiene records.
  • Completion of at least one behavioral safety audit per month.
Dimensions

This role is responsible for the following operational units:

  • Gran house machining
  • Gran house auxiliary
  • Refinery pan and liquid blending
  • Building 23/23A

This role is also responsible for the following parameters:

  • Supply of all crystal grades within specification
  • Supply of Fine, Gran, and Jet within specification
  • QC for bulk operations; H.A.C.C.P.
Essential Capabilities
  • Ability to read written process instructions
  • Perform basic arithmetic calculations
  • Good numeric and literacy skills - educated to at least 4 GCSEs or equivalent
  • Ability to monitor and operate equipment using a computer-based control system
  • Understanding of current safety legislation applicable to the manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of safety, environment, hygiene, and quality procedures applicable to the area of work
  • Good team worker and communicator with a flexible approach to work
  • Good knowledge of sugar refining process
