This is an exciting opportunity to join the colorectal service line at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust as a locum Consultant Colorectal Surgeon. The department is currently undergoing a period of change, with the appointment of a new substantive colorectal surgeon imminent. This locum post will provide cover until the substantive appointment takes place.

The colorectal surgery service at UHP provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic tests, scans, outpatient consultations, and treatments for patients with symptoms suggestive of benign and malignant diseases of the lower gastrointestinal tract. The service is split into sub-specialty services, including robotic surgery, pelvic floor, IBD, and advanced pelvic oncology.

The department has a strong team of specialist nurses working in cancer services, stoma, and pelvic floor units. The colorectal surgery service is managed within the Surgical Care Group, with a full-time Service Line Cluster Manager and a Support Manager.

The successful candidate will have a CCT in General Surgery and significant experience in colorectal surgery. They will also have teaching experience and be able to demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. Desirable qualifications include postgraduate qualifications, JAG accreditation, and experience in emergency surgery.
