About the Role

This is a new post for a locum Consultant Colorectal surgeon within the colorectal service line. The department is in the process of appointing a new substantive colorectal surgeon, and this locum post will cover the period until the start date for the substantive appointment.

Main Duties

The colorectal surgery service provides a full range of diagnostic tests, scans, outpatient consultations, and treatments for patients with symptoms suggestive of benign and malignant diseases of the lower gastrointestinal tract, including colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease.

While delivering general colorectal elective and emergency activity, the department is split into sub-specialty services. These include robotic surgery, pelvic floor, IBD, and advanced pelvic oncology.

The department has excellent specialist nurses working in cancer services, stoma, and pelvic floor units.

The colorectal surgery service is managed within the service line, which is within the Surgical Care Group. There is a full-time Service Line Cluster Manager and a Support Manager.
