Key Objective:

As a Programme Manager at Ricardo, you will take charge of managing multiple intricate and dynamic projects concurrently for a variety of global clients.

Your role will involve collaborating across various departments including design, manufacturing, quality assurance, assembly, and commercial teams to ensure that Ricardo's clients receive exceptional support throughout the entire project lifecycle.

You will oversee project delivery, manage commercial aspects, identify opportunities and risks, while providing innovative solutions tailored to our clients' needs.

Additionally, you will handle account management for select clients, guiding them through every phase of their programs.

Role Autonomy:

This position reports to the Head of Programme Delivery but allows for some flexibility in modifying standard processes when necessary. You will work closely with the Operations Director and Head of Supply Chain and Planning to ensure all client requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle. Your decisions will significantly influence team performance and project outcomes.

Problem-Solving Responsibilities:

Effectively resolve challenges while adhering to established policies and procedures, seeking guidance from senior management when needed. You will adapt departmental strategies and priorities to meet business challenges, implementing innovative technical and management principles with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement.

Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of creativity and effective problem-solving.

Knowledge and Complexity:

Possess a strong business acumen and the ability to apply business and technical principles effectively. You should be highly qualified with extensive relevant experience, demonstrating substantial industry knowledge in programme management. A solid understanding of mechanical products, particularly within driveline systems, is essential.

Accountability:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing one or multiple projects with significant revenue and multi-year timelines.
  • Acting as the primary customer liaison for the project, establishing strong and effective relationships.
  • Leading project reviews, managing timelines, and overseeing budgetary responsibilities.
  • Providing customer support throughout the program lifecycle, including aftersales service.
  • Monitoring project scope and leading negotiations on changes with clients.
  • Reporting on commercial, financial, and project health to senior management.
  • Ensuring compliance with Ricardo's internal project management policies and procedures.

Leadership:

In this role, you will:

  • Lead multiple complex projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery while maintaining high-quality standards to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare customer proposals, including scope of work, timelines, costs, and pricing.
  • Engage daily with operations to ensure timely delivery of project outputs.
  • Guide a cross-functional team to meet customer requirements, even if they do not report directly to you.
  • Exhibit strong leadership capabilities alongside comprehensive technical expertise.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, providing support and guidance to others involved in similar tasks.

Additional Features of the Role:

This position is expected to be based in the UK, with occasional travel as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in automotive project delivery, preferably in motorsport drivetrain projects.
  • An engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including MS Project.
  • Aptitude for logical and methodical problem-solving using techniques such as 8D.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Membership in APM, ideally at full level or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning throughout your career.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.
