Job Overview

We are pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity within our Minor Injuries Unit at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

This position is classified as Band 6, and we invite applications from skilled practitioners capable of functioning in an advanced practice capacity, addressing minor injuries, minor illnesses, and pediatric cases at Band 6 level. The successful candidate will collaborate with a Band 6 or 5 team member and a Band 3 Health Care Assistant.

A strong enthusiasm for minor injury management, effective communication abilities, and a dedication to contributing to a high-quality MIU team are essential. Candidates must demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and a comprehensive understanding of professional healthcare issues.

The MIU operates daily from 8am to 8pm, committed to providing exceptional care to our local community, particularly during peak attendance periods.

Key Responsibilities

To independently deliver thorough assessments and treatments for patients, employing an evidence-based approach. You will be responsible for managing care needs, overseeing treatment plans, and evaluating clinical interventions tailored to the needs of patients in this unit. To be accountable for the quality of patient care delivered within the unit.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain composure in emergency situations and respond professionally. Competence in budget management. Strong commitment to educational development and mentorship.

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Knowledge

Understanding of Health & Safety regulations. Familiarity with workforce planning, supervision, and performance appraisals. Confidence in working autonomously while delivering high-quality care.

Educational Background and Experience

Essential Qualifications

Current professional registration with the NMC. Postgraduate specialist training at degree level, incorporating minor illness. Mentoring qualification or willingness to pursue this qualification.

Desirable Qualifications

Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
