About Newcastle University: Newcastle University is renowned for its supportive work environment, offering a comprehensive benefits package, including a generous holiday allowance, pension schemes, and various health and wellbeing initiatives.

Role Overview: We are seeking applications for a postdoctoral research associate position focused on stellar astrophysics as part of the UKRI-funded SYMPHONY project. This role involves collaborating with Dr. Dominic Bowman and the growing astrophysics team at Newcastle University.

Project Focus: The SYMPHONY project aims to integrate diverse data sources for asteroseismic modeling of massive stars, facilitating the measurement of their masses, ages, and internal rotation profiles. The successful candidate will contribute to the detection and characterization of pulsating magnetic stars and engage in magnetoasteroseismic modeling to understand their internal magnetic fields.

Candidate Profile: We encourage applications from individuals with a robust research background in spectropolarimetry of early-type stars. Experience in relevant analytical methods such as binarity, photometry, spectroscopy, and evolutionary modeling is also desirable. In addition to project-specific tasks, candidates will have the opportunity to pursue independent research and receive mentorship for career development.

Contract Details: This position is fixed-term for two years, with potential for extension based on project funding. The salary is competitive, with additional resources available for travel, training, and support. The anticipated start date is negotiable.

Application Process: Interested candidates should complete the online application form, including a CV, a comprehensive publication list, a cover letter (maximum 1 page), and a research statement detailing relevant skills and experience (maximum 2 pages).

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct research aligned with the project objectives.
• Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team to produce high-quality research outputs.
• Present research findings to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
• Contribute positively to the research group's culture, including mentoring students and participating in outreach activities.
• Undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the role.

Qualifications and Skills:
• A PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong analytical skills and experience in data interpretation.
• Proven track record of high-quality research outputs, including publications and conference presentations.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Attributes:
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Team-oriented with a commitment to fostering a positive research environment.
