Job Description

Hoe Bridge School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide one-to-one support to a pupil with an EHCP. As a valued member of our team, you will be responsible for promoting the learning and personal development of the pupil, enabling them to make the most of educational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Pupil's Learning
    • Assist in promoting the pupil's learning and personal development to enable them to make best use of educational opportunities
    • Aid the pupil to learn as effectively as possible in group situations and on their own
    • Use praise, commentary, and assistance to encourage the pupil to concentrate and stay on task, providing additional nurture to the child
  • Provide Emotional Support
    • Provide emotional support when needed and adapt activities to help reduce levels of anxiety
    • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of the pupil
  • Deliver Intervention Sessions
    • Plan, resource, and deliver 1:1 intervention sessions focusing on the pupil's specific targets under the guidance of the teacher and Head of Learning Support
  • Collaborate with Staff and Parents
    • Work in liaison and co-operation with both staff and parents
    • Establish supportive relationships with the pupil concerned
  • Monitor Progress
    • Monitor the pupil's response to learning activities and, where appropriate, modify or adapt activities as agreed with the teacher to achieve intended learning outcomes
  • Develop Social Skills
    • Support the pupil in developing social skills both in and out of the classroom and be willing to support playground/break time supervision, for example, educational games and clubs
