Job Description

Our client, a leading commercial building management company, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Shift Maintenance Engineer to join their team at their Kings Cross location. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out electrical, mechanical, and fabric maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the building's systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain mechanical plant, including pumps, motors, seals, and bearings.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on air conditioning systems, including air handling units and fan coil units.
  • Conduct water treatment tasks, including temperature checks and dosing.
  • Carry out plumbing repairs, including unblocking toilets and replacing taps and washers.
  • Monitor and maintain Building Management System (BMS) systems.
  • Perform basic electrical duties, including lamp changes.
  • Conduct general building fabric maintenance.
  • Escort specialist subcontractors as required.
  • Ensure that all plant and BMS checks are completed on time and that all problems found are recorded and communicated to the Shift Lead or Supervisor.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in accordance with set schedules, ensuring engineering standards are maintained to maximize the operational effectiveness and reliability of the plant and associated systems.
  • Be proactive in regards to preventative maintenance and good site husbandry.
  • Adhere to set engineering standards in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) requirements.
  • Ensure onsite Quality Assurance procedures are adhered to in all respects and maintain accurate records and documentation associated with the mechanical aspects of the PPM and plant.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to all Helpdesk related reactive maintenance issues, associated with the heating and ventilation systems, pumps, water tanks, valves, pipe work, and associated mechanical systems.
Working Hours:

Continental Shift: 07:00 am - 19:00 pm / 19:00 pm - 07:00 am

Requirements:
  • Mechanically qualified level 2&3 (C&G, NVQ etc)
  • Experience working in a large commercial building
  • You must be able to provide copies of your trade certificates (Essential)
  • A proven track record in commercial building maintenance
  • Multi-skilled
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent customer skills
  • Must be able to get to site for 07:00 am start
