Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled pharmacist with extensive experience in clinical pharmacy, quality enhancement, and innovative practices to advance their career in a senior capacity within our vibrant pharmacy team. This role offers leadership to the clinical units within our Specialised and Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), presenting a unique opportunity to engage in the commissioning and establishment of new services within the organization.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the established specialist pharmacist prescriber positions within the AWP Specialised Services and will actively pursue opportunities to broaden the pharmacy workforce in these specialized areas.

As a vital member of the senior pharmacy team, the postholder will assist the Chief Pharmacist in shaping the strategic vision for both medication optimization within the organization and the pharmacy services as a whole.

The role also encompasses responsibilities for education and training, targeting both the AWP Pharmacy team and the broader pharmacy workforce, as well as other healthcare professionals within AWP and the local Integrated Care Systems.

The position offers flexibility in terms of location across the Trust, although regular attendance at meetings and visits to clinical sites will be necessary.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strategic development of the pharmacy service and the execution of service objectives.
  • Lead the creation, implementation, and assessment of clinical pharmacy services throughout the Trust.
  • Foster a skilled, motivated, and adaptable clinical pharmacy workforce, managed within existing budgets and supported by technology, robust governance, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, and other Clinical Lead Pharmacists to ensure the delivery of strategic plans and the safe, efficient, and effective use of resources.
  • Assist Trust leadership groups with all matters related to medication optimization, supporting broader Trust requirements concerning CQC, GPhC, NICE, and NHS England.
  • Oversee the Locality Lead Pharmacists and Specialist Pharmacists in SSC to provide clinical services and medication optimization, including audits and monitoring.
  • Take the lead in delivering and advancing robust and progressive medication optimization initiatives.
  • Engage with commissioners and the multidisciplinary team on service arrangements, including shared care and new service developments.
  • Provide coverage for other Clinical Lead Pharmacists during their absence.
  • Act as a deputy for the Deputy or Chief Pharmacist as required.
