Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled pharmacist with extensive experience in clinical pharmacy, quality enhancement, and innovative practices to advance their career at a senior level by joining our vibrant pharmacy team. This role offers leadership to the clinical teams within our Specialised and Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), presenting an excellent opportunity to engage in the commissioning and establishment of new services within the Trust.

The successful candidate will support the established specialist pharmacist prescriber roles within the AWP Specialised Services and actively pursue opportunities to expand the pharmacy workforce in these critical areas.

As a key member of the senior pharmacy team, the postholder will assist the Chief Pharmacist in defining the strategic direction for both medication optimisation within the organisation and the overall pharmacy services.

The role also includes responsibilities for education and training for both the AWP Pharmacy and the broader pharmacy workforce, as well as other healthcare professionals within AWP and the local Integrated Care Systems.

While the base for this position can be flexible across the Trust's geography, regular attendance at meetings and visits to clinical sites will be necessary.

This position includes on-call duties and may require weekend and bank holiday work.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of pharmacy service objectives.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of clinical pharmacy services across the Trust.
  • Foster a competent, motivated, and adaptable clinical pharmacy workforce, managed within existing budgets and supported by technology, robust governance, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, and other Clinical Lead Pharmacists to ensure the successful delivery of strategic plans and efficient resource utilization.
  • Assist Trust leadership groups with all matters related to medication optimisation, supporting wider Trust requirements in this area.
  • Oversee the Locality Lead Pharmacists and Specialist Pharmacists in delivering clinical services and medication optimisation, including audit and monitoring.
  • Lead the development and delivery of effective and progressive medication optimisation strategies.
  • Engage with commissioners and the multidisciplinary team on service arrangements, including shared care and new service initiatives.
  • Provide coverage for other Clinical Lead Pharmacists during their absence.
  • Act as a deputy for the Deputy or Chief Pharmacist as required.
