We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive individual with expertise in ocean freight to join our team at Sterling Recruitment Solutions Ltd.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and suppliers to negotiate and confirm rates effectively.
  • Receive customer quotations via various methods and cover ocean imports, exports, and cross-trade.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers, hauliers, and suppliers to maximise cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare and submit customer quotations and proposals within agreed timeframes.
  • Work within our in-house system to create and issue quotations.
  • Communicate with customers to manage and follow up on all quotes to obtain feedback and measure success.
  • Track success and failure rates of quotes and report back to management.
  • Develop and build relationships with customers and provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Produce strategic tariffs when required to ensure effective workload and keep them up to date.
  • Monitor carrier websites and notifications.
  • Promote continuous improvement.
  • Perform other delegated tasks as assigned by the reporting manager.

Requirements:

  • Industry and operational knowledge of ocean freight.
  • Understanding of how to influence profitability through effective pricing.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong numerical and commercial skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer and office applications, including Cargowise.
  • Proactive, team worker with excellent time management and organisation skills.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated.
