Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged to become a vital member of the Severe Intestinal Failure Team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which serves as the NHSE commissioned service for the region.

This role demands foresight, creativity, and the capability to collaborate across various professional domains, driven by a genuine commitment to delivering the highest quality of patient care. As a pivotal member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee the provision of outstanding evidence-based clinical and professional standards.

The Senior Consultant Nurse will take charge of developing a patient-centered, evidence-based approach while establishing, upholding, and enhancing professional standards for patients with gastroenterological needs requiring enteral or parenteral nutrition and intestinal failure services.

You will be expected to:

  • Provide specialized guidance to a group of patients referred for expert intervention, care, and support, serving as a primary contact for assessment, information, and advice for patients, families, caregivers, and all involved staff.
  • Lead the adoption of evidence-based best practices within your clinical specialty, monitoring and evaluating patient care while developing clinical pathways to support this, including the implementation of suitable interventions in both hospital and community settings.
  • Collaborate strategically with local and national NHS organizations, non-NHS entities, Local Authorities, independent contractors, and the public to facilitate the application of best practices in your area of clinical expertise.
