Position Overview

This role is a secondment opportunity, and candidates must obtain approval from their current employer.

Are you a dedicated and proactive professional with a passion for safeguarding children and adolescents?

An exciting and demanding position has become available for a highly skilled and enthusiastic nurse with extensive experience in child safeguarding for a temporary period.

Applicants should exhibit a sincere commitment to safeguarding and enhancing the welfare of unborn infants, children, and adolescents, particularly focusing on the challenges faced during transitional phases.

Key Responsibilities

The position entails collaborating closely with the Named Nurse/Midwife for Child Safeguarding and the broader Safeguarding and Transition teams to ensure that the organization fulfills its legal obligations to protect and promote the welfare of children, young individuals, and their families.

The successful candidate will offer guidance, oversight, support, and training to staff throughout the organization regarding child safeguarding and the welfare of unborn infants.

The team is dedicated to fostering a positive safeguarding culture within the organization, ensuring it is integrated into everyday practices.

About the Organization

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides leadership and improvement training for all new employees. This training program is designed to enhance leaders' understanding of management and leadership skills. Participation in the leadership development program and the Quality Improvement Program is expected. This initiative aims to:

Upon completion of this four-and-a-half-day training, you will have the opportunity to explore additional leadership and improvement training options, including various in-house courses tailored to your role and bite-sized programs, as well as leadership apprenticeships at levels 3, 5, and 7.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Degree or diploma in nursing
  • Evidence of recent and ongoing professional development

Desirable

  • Master's level degree
  • Leadership Certificate
  • Qualification in Safeguarding Supervision
  • Recognized qualification in adult education

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of current issues related to child and adult safeguarding and their practical application
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary and partnership collaboration and key responsibilities
  • Theoretical frameworks and indicators of abuse and neglect
  • Familiarity with local and national Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and the ability to translate insights into practice
  • Capability to provide safeguarding supervision
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate safeguarding training for children
  • Capacity to respond effectively to multiple competing priorities in a challenging environment

Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of child care legislation: national and local policies and procedures
